Jonathan M. Daley is a writer, creating work for stage and screen, and a lighting designer, working primarily in theatre and dance.

Originally from Cumbria, England, Jonathan has been living and working in Belfast since 2013.
Writing
Jonathan has been creating work for stage from 2015.
In 2016, his play 'Dinner With Joe' won the Best Original Writing award at the Irish Student Drama Association Festival. His next play, ‘Where We Part’, was nominated for the same award in 2017. Also in 2017, his play ‘Bourbons and Baked Beans’ was produced by CRTheatre.
In late 2017, Jonathan along with Conal Clapper and Conor McGuinness founded a production company, Headrush, Ireland. To date, Headrush, Ireland have produced three of Jonathan’s stage plays: Sink Or Swim (Accidental Theatre, March 2018); We Like It Here (Naughton Studio, Lyric Theatre, June 2018); and Assembly Required (Naughton Studio, Lyric Theatre, July 2019).
In 2020, Jonathan was commissioned by Tinderbox Theatre Company to write a new play. His play, Sylvan, was directed by Patrick J O’Reilly and produced in Belfast and Coleraine in October and November 2021.
His plays Echoes Down The Corridor Pan Fried, In Butter were presented by Prime Cut Productions as rehearsed readings on Zoom in May 2021 and June 2022.
‘The Revolution Will Be Streamed’ was produced by Headrush, Ireland as part of Scene + Heard Festival 2022 at Smock Alley Theatre in Dublin in February 2022.
Jonathan’s play, Vection, was presented by Headrush, Ireland in March 2024.
Lighting
Jonathan working professionally as a lighting designer from 2017.
Recent lighting design credits include: The Tragedy of Richard III (Lyric Theatre, Belfast), All Growed Up (BYMT), I Always Liked The Name Marcus & Holding Ground (Tinderbox Theatre Company), Waiting For The Offo (Bosco Productions), , and Mirrorball & The Untold Truth of Captain Hook (Replay Theatre Company).
Upcoming lighting design work includes: Touch Hear Feel (Belfast International Arts Festival), The Adventures of Red Riding Hood (The Mac, Belfast) and The Velveteen Rabbit (Replay Theatre Company/Lyric Theatre, Belfast).
